Break out the sunscreen and slip on some shades because there are a ton of free and low-cost outdoor events to enjoy in Langley this August!

Sounds of Summer
Every Wednesday in August from 7 pm to 8 pm in McBurney Plaza

Langley City’s free weekly summer concert series is back for 2018! Musicians from around the Lower Mainland are coming to McBurney Plaza to perform. Rock, folk, jazz, classical, world – no matter what your style, there’s something for you. Each week a new band and music genre will be featured.

Lunch & Lounge
Every Tuesday and Thursday in August from 12 pm to 2:30 pm in Douglas Park

Pick up some take-out or pack a picnic and bring your lunch down to Douglas Park every Tuesday and Thursday to enjoy music, play a game of chess or checkers, socialize with your co-workers, or sit in an Adirondack chair and read your book. Every Tuesday will feature live music performed by Mike McLeod playing many of his fave country, blues, and rock tunes, especially in the 70s singer/songwriter genre.

Pop Up Play
Every Tuesday and Thursday in August from 9:30 am to 11:30 am at Douglas Park

Pop Up Play is a free, outdoor drop-in play group that happens every Tuesday and Thursday during the summer. Each day features new sports and games, big board games to play, crafts, obstacles, a bean bag toss, and more.

Fresh Air Fitness
Every Friday in August from 12:15 pm to 1:15 pm at Douglas Park

Did you know that Langley City has an outdoor fitness circuit? Join Fresh Air Fitness, a free, instructor-led weekly drop-in to learn how to use the equipment and get started on a basic fitness routine. Stop by one time or visit each week!

Farmers Market in the City
Every Saturday in August from 10 am to 2 pm at Timms Community Centre

Pick up some locally grown and handmade products or just go for a stroll in the fresh air! The market runs every Saturday until October 6th.

Free Outdoor Movie: Avengers Infinity War
Friday, August 10th at 7:30 pm at Douglas Park

Bring your chairs or a blanket, play some games, and meet new friends at the City of Langley’s free community outdoor screening of 2018’s biggest blockbuster, Avengers: Infinity War! Activities begin at 7:30 pm and the movie begins after 8:30pm. Bring your own snacks or purchase food at the concession.

5th Annual Day of Pos-Abilities

Saturday, August 11th from 11 am until 5 pm at Douglas Park

The Langley Pos-Abilities Society is pleased to put on this annual event designed to promote understanding and inclusion of people with disabilities. This fun-filled and informative day will include: Live entertainment, a mouth-watering BBQ, fun and educational children’s activities, artisan crafts made by people of all abilities, and a “Try on a Disability” exercise where everyone can experience various abilities and gain insight into each other’s lives.

Saturday, August 11th at 8 pm at the Al Anderson Memorial Pool

RCMP Musical Ride

Friday, August 31st from 5pm to 9pm at Thunderbird Show Park

Langley City is proud to present the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Musical Ride. A Canadian tradition since 1876, a troop of 32 scarlet coated “Mounties” on majestic black horses present a 30 minute show of intricate figures and cavalry drills choreographed to music. Take advantage of this truly Canadian experience and see one our national treasures perform live. Tickets are $5/person for Langley City residents.
