Last Minute DIY Costume Ideas for Kids That Will Make Anyone Smile

Halloween is right around the corner, and there are only a few days left to get the perfect costume ready. We’ve put together a list of the fun kid DIY costumes that are not only adorable but easy to do last minute.

Colonel Sanders

Things You’ll Need:

  • Dark Rimmed Glasses
  • Red Apron
  • White Dress Shirt
  • KFC Bucket
  • White Face Paint
  • White Tape

Putting a beard on anyone under the age of ten is always funny, but adding the Colonel to it makes it so much better. Grab your white tape create the letters “KFC” on the apron.  Paint the famous beard and mustache on their face, throw the rest of the costume on and you’re all set!

Strong Man

What you’ll need:

  • Long Cardboard Tube or Stick
  • Black Tape
  • Two Black Balloons
  • White Construction Paper

The great part about this simple costume, is there are so many different ways you can do it. From the classic look to a modern-day strong man, the costume can change based on what clothes you already own. Wrap the black tape around your long tube. Blow up two black balloons and tape to either end. Finally cut out the numbers from the white construction paper and tape them on the balloons.

Bubble Bath

What You’ll Need:

  • White Balloons
  • White T-shirt & Pants
  • Rubber Duckies
  • Shower Cap

If you are looking for a great last minute costume for any age, look no further than this bubble bath costume. Everything you need for this can be found at your local dollar store and done in less than an hour. Put on your white clothes, tape blown up white balloons and rubber duckies to the body and voila! The result is a cute costume that will look completely planned

Rain Cloud

What You’ll Need:

  • Umbrella
  • Cotton Balls
  • Blue Construction Paper
  • String
  • Raid Gear

Whip out that glue gun and get ready to glue some cotton balls! Take an open umbrella, glue cotton balls all over it to make it look like a cloud. Cut out some raindrops from the construction paper and hang them from the umbrella. Put on your favourite rain gear and you’re ready to go! – Added bonus, if it rains you’re double prepared.

The Little Rascals

What You’ll Need:

  • Hair Gel
  • Suspenders
  • Black Sign
  • White Chalk

The best duo of the 90’s has got to be Spanky and Alfalfa. The leaders of the He-Man Woman Haters Club are an easy costume to throw together with clothes you have around the house and some hair gel. Grab a black sign, and some caulk to make your sign and they are ready for trick or treating. Just make sure you remember the #1 rule, NO GIRLS ALLOWED.

Clark Kent

What You’ll Need:

  • Superman Shirt
  • Black Glasses
  • Hair Gel
  • White Dress Shirt
  • Suspender

You can not go wrong with this classic costume. Turn your little stud muffin into the world’s favourite superhero!

Weather Man in a Storm

What You’ll Need:

  • Umbrella
  • Microphone
  • Dress Clothes
  • Hair Gel

Does your kid have a ton of personality? Then this could be the perfect costume for you. Flip an umbrella inside out, stick some crumpled up pieces of paper to the outfit and spike up the hair. The most needed part of this costume is acting like you’re about to be blown away!
