It’s going to be another hot week in the Fraser Valley. Here at HQ we’ve stocked the freezer with popsicles and drunk more iced coffee than we care to remember. Getting through these scorching summer days, means we’re blasting the air con and dreaming of poolside adventures, which is why we’ve taken the liberty of highlighting our favourite spots to cool off in Langley.
You can thank us later! Especially if you have kids at home that are sun-stroked and grouchy and longing for a water slide. From spray parks to pools, we’re sure the kids (and adults, *cough*) will find plenty of ways to cool off in the summer heat. Just remember to slap on some factor fifty, because ain’t nobody got time for sunburn.
WATER PARKS

BROOKSWOOD PARK ????
Brookswood Park is the perfect place to let your kids’ energy loose! With a waterpark and two-story playground side by side, your kids will be running around in the water and fighting to keep their place at the top of the playground all day! For the parents, grab a spot in the shade, order a cold cut trio from Subway, and slurp down a Venti Iced Caramel Macchiato with 2 pumps of hazelnut and extra caramel drizzle from the Starbucks close by!
MURRAYVILLE OUTDOOR ACTIVITY PARK ????
Murrayville is so much more than just a water park. Seriously, check this out for a list of facilities: a playground, some sandy volleyball courts, a ball hockey court, and a huge skatepark. If your kids are energetic little weirdoes that seem to take up the entire neighbourhood with their yelping and bikes, then treat them to a day out at this park. We promise they’ll be all tuckered out when you finally manage to drag them home. You might even lure them into Murrayville Library to check out a few books to curl up with after dinner.
PHILIP JACKMAN PARK ⚾
At Philip Jackman Park, show off your home-run status in the baseball field, or get all the kids together for a friendly game of soccer! With an outdoor pool (and slide) as well as a giant spray park, the family will have tons to do. If you or the tikes get hungry, there’s a concession on site where you can enjoy a delicious ice cream sandwich as the kids burn up all their energy.
WALNUT GROVE COMMUNITY PARK ????
This water park next to the community centre is popular with families looking to keep the kids cool on a hot day. With the walnut grove trail close by, bring your dog for a shady walk through the trees. With picnic shelters and plenty of sport courts close by, make sure to pack a lunch and bring your best sports equipment!
WILLOUGHBY COMMUNITY PARK ????
This community centre has a fitness room, an outdoor water park, a playground, and plenty of sports fields. This park is perfect for if you want to practice your lacrosse skills, or take on your family in a friendly game of bocce!
OUTDOOR POOLS

FORT LANGLEY OUTDOOR POOL ????
Looking for a no-frills dip into a pool close to home? Fort Langley’s outdoor pool offers a large pool with picnic facilities and a 2 story playground! With giant fields for the dog to run in, and the Trading Post Eatery close by, take a dip, walk the dog, and sit down for a delicious bite to eat.
AL ANDERSON MEMORIAL POOL ????
This 8-lane, heated outdoor pool is perfect for kids and parents alike! Practice your front crawl as the kids do flips off the diving board, or visit when the firefighting team is on site and get sprayed with a fire hose! With fields, picnic shelters, and a water park nearby – turn this into a fun-filled day for the whole family.
ALDERGROVE CREDIT UNION COMMUNITY CENTRE – OTTER CO-OP OUTDOOR EXPERIENCE ????
We saved the best for last! The Otter co-op outdoor experience is one of the best places to spend a hot day, as it has a huge spray park, three speedy slides, a bubbling hot tub, a lazy river, and a bouncy wave pool. If you wait until the sun starts to set, you can even catch a movie as you float into the cool summer nights!
This summer is sure to be a scorcher, we hope you find a way to cool off, and if you know of any other places to take a nice cold plunge, let us know in the comments below or on social media. Just a quick reminder to pack some strong SPF for the day of!
